Stone Carving with David Holgate

Here at Hungate we like to get visitors involved by running various workshops where people get to have a go at some medieval inspired crafts. We’ve had a number of workshops with stained glass artist Lilian Shaw but last week we had something a bit different.

Last Saturday, another professional artist, David Holgate, ran a workshop looking at letter design in an introduction to carving flint. He has his own studio in Norfolk and has worked on commissions for some major companies. Recently he even carved a plaque that was unveiled by her majesty the Queen at Norwich Cathedral!

If you’re interested in trying something creative and a bit diferent Hungate has a number of workshops coming up over the next few months, including more with Lilian and David. There is also a new pen and ink workshop with Feltwell Art Club starting soon.
